I am taking my first ever trip to PEI!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 I remember hearing about it first back when I was a school girl and reading Anne of Green Gables. Ever since then I knew that I had to go, but almost thirty years later I have not yet gone. What was the catalyst? Well, I was talking with a friend a super cool scientist who caters biologics to different labs around the world (link here<\/a>) about working and living in PEI and Charolttetown. He\u2019s been there for a long time and offered to host me when I arrived. So I don\u2019t have to worry about paying for lodging because who has enough money for that now-a-days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jon mentioned that there are so many hikes, but I though I would do my research before I go, as of this writing I\u2019m slated to go early next spring but I understand that spring may come at different times. Ontario\u2019s spring may be a bit earlier. So I\u2019m aiming for a June arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okay, so check out this map<\/a>. I found it on reddit, and it was created by a particular user to help with all the basic questions in the PEI subreddit like, \u201cThings to do in Charlottetown\u201d. I think reddit gets a bad rap, but it is one of my to go to tools for stuff like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyways, I really want to be remote. I am tired of people, of traffic, of the bustle of the city where your neighboor will play loud music at 11 am on a Thursday morning (WHY??). I need quiet. I need to hear the birds chirp, the ocean lap the shore, and the wind whistle through my ears. So first I was to the North Cape Nature Trail, it is just over 5.1km and is roughly an one to one and a half hour hike time. It\u2019s also knowns as the Black Marsh Trial and takes you right along the red cliffs where the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait meet. We\u2019re talking northern tip of the Island. Apparently there\u2019s even a lighthouse that\u2019s been there since 1866 and also giant turbines at the North Cape Wind Farm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

After that I want to travel to the very opposite of the Island and go to a place called Red Point Provincial Park. Unfortunately I\u2019ll have to find either cabins or lodging there. After some poking around this site<\/a> I realized that I may not be able to go tent camping there as it seemed like all the sites were taken.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I really want to drive around the whole Island, it\u2019s circumference is only about 700 kilometers, so technically you could drive around it in a day. But from what I\u2019ve seen is that it\u2019s way better to take your time and slowly visit the types of place you want on the trip. OMG I cannot wait, and in addition to traveling all around I will be stuffing my face with all the chowders, lobster rolls, and craft beer that I can fit in my belly.
